Running the Solitary Druid Fellowship is a solitary business in itself. For the last couple of months, I’ve been the sole voice here, and I worry at times that I’m not enough—not wise enough, not informed enough, not charismatic enough, not anything enough—to carry the blog by myself. A lot of solitaries read this blog. A lot of new druids read this blog looking for information and inspiration, and I feel the pressure to be enough to help them.

Add the fact that I’m shy and have a dreadful time reaching out to folks I don’t know, and I’ve been feeling like an extremely lonely solitary.

That’s where I need your help.

This blog isn’t just about me and my experiences and what I have to say—it’s also about you and your experiences, and our collective experiences walking the druid path alone. We may choose to be solitary, and you may choose to read and celebrate with SDF in silence, but we are still a community. We have many voices, and all of those voices have some beauty to add to our song of solitude.

When I joined ADF, the most important thing I did was blog and read others’ blogs. By seeing how other druids lived and pursued their spiritual work, I was able to learn, to test practices, and to feel connected with other druids around the world. The same is true now—I still love to hear homely tales of druid practice brought to life and to share with others in their work, even though I choose to perform most of my own druidry in solitude.

It reminds me that even though I am a solitary, I am not alone.

I would like to invite you all to become contributors to the SDF blog. Essays on solitude, seasonal/High Day reflections, devotional texts, photos capturing your solitary practice, musings on how your druid practice affects your life—all of these and more will be welcome. If you’re concerned about writing quality or proofreading, don’t worry: I can help. (I’m a professional writer!)

Reach out to me. Reach out to other solitaries. Let’s get some new voices in here.

You can reach me on Facebook and Twitter, or just email me at Kristin[AT]SolitaryDruid[DOT]org.
